The problem with graphene

Most of what's sold as graphene isn't graphene at all.

The Problem

Over 70% of the world's graphene supply comes from a single geography, made with acid-oxidation chemistry dating to 1958.

What actually ships is graphene oxide — chemically damaged and unstable, at a cost of five tons of toxic waste for every ton of product.

It arrives as a raw powder, leaving customers to disperse it themselves. Most can't. None of it is qualified for defense or aerospace use.

Sovdac

Sovdac is true pure two-dimensional carbon — 2 to 7 layers, not the 20 to 100 typical of graphene nanoplatelets.

A carbon-to-oxygen ratio of 14.73-to-1, against roughly 1-to-3 for graphene oxide. It does not oxidize, degrade, or off-gas.

Produced through a waste-free, continuous synthesis at industrial scale — zero toxic byproducts, only water and CO₂.

Metal wettability

Proprietary interfacial chemistry lets Sovdac bond directly to aluminum, copper, iron, steel, titanium, and nickel. Aluminum integration alone had eluded the field for two decades.

3D nano-architecture

Sovdac's pure few-layer 2D sheets interlock at the nanoscale to form an impenetrable, reinforcing network within the host matrix. This creates a powerful structural barrier, leaving no plane for cracks or corrosion to travel along.

Chemical inertness

A 14.73-to-1 carbon-to-oxygen ratio means Sovdac resists oxidation in open air and releases no gas under heat. Suspensions stay stable for 12 months or more.

A fully recycled, continuous reduction process running at industrial throughput — producing zero toxic waste, only water and CO₂.

Sovdac ships as a suspension engineered to each customer's solvent, viscosity, and loading — dropping into existing production lines with no in-house dispersion work required.
